Day by day

A shape, not a schedule. Every one of these is rewritten around the people travelling it.

  1. In

    Fly to Surat Thani, drive into the park. A night on land at the forest edge, listening to it.

  2. Onto the lake

    An hour by longtail to a raft house tied to a cliff. No road, no wifi, and limestone going straight up out of green water.

  3. Gibbons

    On the water at five thirty, because that is when they call. Then a cave, or a swim off the deck, or neither.

  4. Deeper

    The far arm of the lake where the drowned forest still stands. Night walk with torches for the things that only move then.

  5. Back to land

    Out slowly, a waterfall on the way, and a proper bed.

  6. South or home

    An hour and a half to the Andaman coast if you want to end on a beach.
